Revealing new information surrounding the Bamber case

31 December 2005: Further new information has come to light in the never ending case of Jeremy Bamber wrongly convicted of murder. New documents have been found confirming that in 1991 three police officers were charged with serious offences related to the manner in which they investigated the case of Jeremy Bamber.

In one case a Detective Inspector was accused of witholding evidence to the Coroner at the Braintree Magistrates Court. A Police Sergeant is accused of making alterations to a witness statement. A Detective Sergeant is accused of alterating a witness statement and making a false declaration.

None of this, of course was made available to the Court of Appeal that in 2002 dismissed Bamber's appeal against conviction that had been referred by the Criminal cases Review Committee.

In the interests of justice we publish the charge sheets in order that all those that have taken an interest in the case, and the current CCRC Review, are able to access the manner upon which Bamber has been treated.

In a further twist, a police notebook, never shown previously to the defence at the 1986 trial and the 2002 appeal confirms the rifle that the police had photographed laying on top of Shiela Caffel in the bedroom was in fact "by her right side". This of course leads to the question of how the gun "moved itself from her right side to on top of her" said Giovanni Di Stefano the lawyer acting for Jeremy Bamber.

"There are to many episodes of non disclosure that simply cannot be explained. Too many documents, photographs, exhibits that the police failed even to show their own Counsel," said Mr Di Stefano.

A further strange factor exists in an almost copycat type murder in New Zealand where David Cullen Bain was convicted on five murders in identical fashion to those that Jeremy Bamber was convicted. Bain has protested his innocence throughout.
