Application to prevent Saddam's execution

18 December 2006: Roma - Washington DC - Baghdad - A motion to prevent Saddam Hussein being executed was filed today with the United States District Court of Columbia.

It follows the ruling of Judge Sullivan in November requesting Saddam Hussein's lawyer to make the appropriate filings in accordance with the procedures of the US District Court.

Judge Sullivan is expected to rule on the Motion in due course.
