Bin Laden identified to Vice President Cheney in December 2001

Roma/London, 14 January 2008: "As early as December 14th 2001 the whereabouts and identity of Bin Laden was made known directly to the US Vice President as the released letter shows," said Giovanni Di Stefano.

"No action was taken because it would have thrown away the plans that Bush had for invading Iraq. The capture of Bin laden as documents I have seen show that he is not at all high priority. The capture of Mr Bin Laden would cause the immediate cessation of the so called war on terror. Bush relies upon that. It is why although the CIA and the NSA know his whereabouts no action is taken," said Di Stefano.

He added that these matters would all be subject to investigation at the end of the tenure of President Bush.
